Our History
The family-run campsite and farm was originally bought in 1954 by Walter Sutcliffe. At that time, it was just a farm, with the land used solely for grazing livestock—there was no campsite. In the 1970s, Christopher Matthew Sutcliffe, Walter’s son, started the campsite. The field was then a single large area where visitors could drive straight on and pitch their tents next to their cars. Chris M. Sutcliffe transformed the site into the busy, welcoming campsite it is today. He focused full-time on running the campsite, while his son, Stephen Sutcliffe, took over the farm work.

Our Story
When Chris M. Sutcliffe reached an age where he needed help, his grandson, Christopher Thomas Sutcliffe, began assisting him in 2021, especially as the Three Peaks Challenge brought increasing numbers of visitors. After Chris M. Sutcliffe passed away in May 2024, the farm and campsite were handed down to Stephen Sutcliffe. Stephen’s daughter, Megan, now helps run the farm and is expected to take over the farm and campsite in the future.
Present Day
Tracey, Stephen’s wife, now runs the campsite alongside their son, Chris. Together, they are working to modernize the site while continuing to welcome everyone—from charities and Duke of Edinburgh groups to the Army and, last but not least, all the Three Peakers taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
